2011 OPENING DAY
Today always reminds me of 1969 when the first game was played by the Montreal Expos. What a day in Shea Stadium.Mudcat Grant started,Carroll Sembera saved the win and Dan McGinn, the lefty, hit the first homerun. It was a glorious one run win.For Expos fans that game and the home opener, the first game ever in Canada, are indelible.Another one run win, this time against the Cardinals.Maury Wills vs Dal Maxvill. The Expos would only win 50 more games that year but it was still fantastic because it was our team, nos amours. We even had a no-hitter.We had our local hero Claude Raymond. We had Jonesville and Le Grand Orange. We had Jarry Park and the swimming pool that Willie Stargell hit homeruns into. Yes,today always brings back the memories.

I haven't heard that term, Nos Amours, in ages. Just typing it now makes me swell up with pride.
