Pre-August Musings

Its that time of the season when there are still many games left but most trends are obvious already. The only possible shock to come is if Pittsburg wins its division.Almost all other playoff spots are decided, the exception being the Junior league's equivalent Division. Its ok,because the pressure to maintain their position is fun to follow. But the dog days lack the exuberancy of a startling upsurgence by teams vying for the playoffs.

Not enough to have Milwaukee, Arizona, Pittsburgh and Cleveland competing in their respective divisions for the first time in years?

I guess when one follows the BoSox or Yanks who call the AL East home where nothing changes, it can seem like there's no exuberancy of a startling upsurgence by teams vying for the playoffs...
