HITTING BAD PITCHES

The pitcher starts off with the advantage. He has 7  defenders.A hard hit ball is often caught. A pitcher who can throw strikes can win.The best hitters still are in a minority position. That is why hitting trumps pitching. The hitter who works the count wins the day.The great winning teams were smarter hitters and more accurate pitchers.Conventional wisdom is too conventional and in this case wrong.Plain and simple. Can't you just feel it.

I don't know what to make of that post.

It can be argued that:

The hitter starts off with the advantage. He needs to place a baseball 9 inches in diameter within a field somewhere in the range 15,000 to 20,000 sq ft with ONLY 9 defenders in the way. The Hitter only needs to prevent the baseball from crossing the strike zone (he can take balls) which, while varies in size, is only a few sq ft.

That being said, the pitcher who gets ahead in the count wins the day. The great winning teams had smarter hitters and more accurate pitchers.
